Brownfield Solar: Economic Benefits

Since brownfield sites were formerly contaminated with pollutants and so aren't suitable for most types of development, many see them as low-value assets. But in many cases, that's far from the truth.
Unlike residential, recreational, urban, or agricultural developments, solar projects don't have to be built on 100% habitable land parcels Developing solar on brownfields transforms these previously unusable lands into valuable "brightfields" that generate revenue for landowners through competitive lease rates.
In fact, many brownfields offer reduced grid connection expenses since they're often near existing transmission infrastructure. States and localities frequently incentivize brownfield development through waived fees, favorable zoning, or tax credits. Brownfield solar plants also contribute to local economies through property taxes and other community benefits.
Rather than viewing brownfields as unproductive land, we see them as opportunities for sustainable, profitable development. By placing our solar projects on brownfields, we help our customers repurpose underutilized land, create economic value, and generate clean energy to power a cleaner future.
